Does the Windows world really need another browser? We already have Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera. And of course, there are others that you may not have heard of.
Well, sure, there's always room for another. That's particularly true if the new one is fast.
And that's just what we have with Apple's Safari. It released its beta (test) version in June. The final version comes out in October.
Apple claims Safari is up to twice as fast as Internet Explorer. And it says it is up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox. The words "up to" allow some wiggle room. But I agree—it seems noticeably faster.
I believe Safari is safer than Internet Explorer. IE is part of Windows, which eases the path for intruders. Being an outsider (like Firefox), Safari is just another program run by Windows.
Don't let the name Apple worry you. That company makes other programs for Windows, including QuickTime and iTunes.
