Is your child’s school any good?

7/11/2009

Education is the key to a good future. Every parent wants to enroll their children in the best schools. But how do you find them?

There are probably several schools within driving distance. If you’re looking at private schools, there are more options. You may even be willing to move to a better school district. You could be looking at manyschools.

You’re going to need detailed information and statistics. I’ve found sites that can help.

GreatSchools–Search for schools by ZIP code, district or rating. View all the schools in your area. Ratings are based on students’ test results. Personal reviews from parents are included.

Perhaps most importantly, you’ll see the school’s student/teacher ratio. You’ll also find the student body’s ethnic breakdown. You can even find the dollars spent per student.

Public School Review – Despite this site’s name, you won’t actually find reviews here. But you will find lots of useful information. There are plenty of statistics on teachers and students. And you’ll get data on district and school spending.
