My mother did something on her machine (of course it was the machines fault and not the operator).
I hope that I can accurately describe the problem.
Firefox isn't working. It's as though it is spread all over the screen and I can;t get any control over it. I tried restore and that didn't work. I can't even uninstall, either through windows or ccleaner.
If I use IE everything seems to work fine.
Any help greatly appreciated.

My 80 year-old mother has similar abilities. Perhaps you could take a screen shot and post it online to demonstrate the problem?

wxnan57,
If I knew what a screen shot was I might be able to shed some light on this. And if my mom was younger than yours maybe that might help.
Thx

If I understand your description of the screen, could it be that Firefox is in full screen mode?? Have you tried hitting the F11 key??

Please do not comment on the abilities, or lack there of, of the elderly in playing with computers. Afterall we were born before TV and all radios were AM and had tubes, There were no Printed circuits or computer chips. . I turned 80 13 Aug.'09.

Hi Seadog, At least you want to learn and that is more than I can say for a lot of the people I know in that age range when it comes to computers as most say " We liked it better before computers." Did you say you were 80??

From what I was experiencing with FF spread all over the screen it sounds logical that it was in "full screen mode". I did hit the F11 key and then did a lot of clicking and clacking. To make a long story short, FF came back and I was able to update (as Secunia said there was a security risk ((probably because of my restore)) ). Anyway. everything is now fine (knock, knock).

Seadog (and anyone else),
No offense was intended towards any elderly. The elderly are no longer "elderly", especially since I've started getting my SS checks. My mother has no problem with comments I make about whose fault the problem was but I realize that not all would appreciate my sense of humor, or lack thereof.

My profound apologies to anyone I may have offended and my thanks to all that helped with solving this problem.

I will now change my user name so I won't be blacklisted in the future (more humor--sorry).

1. Thanks for your service to our Country!

2. No apoligies necessary, Your post was taken as humor, My reply was meant to be humorous, no sarcasm intended. No one, (In his or her right mind, that is), ) would criticize his or her Mom, unless he or she was kidding, he or she would most likely be awarded with a spanking

Dustin:

I'm a firm believer that you CAN teach OLD dogs, even old Seadogs, new tricks. I have even learned to type, somewhat, since I bought my computer, using the Biblical system that is.
