Do you remember that old expression, “If I could only be in two places at once?” The idea is that you would be twice as productive if there were two of you.

If there were, you’d be able to drop the kids off at school while running an important meeting at work. You could take care of your aging parents while, at the same time, do chores like the laundry at home. Tap or click here for free productivity tools that can help.

That concept has taken hold in offices around the country, where people have computers with two connected screens. It helps you to multitask. For instance, you can respond to emails on one screen while you’re working on an Excel spreadsheet on the other screen. With two connected screens, you could then drag a color you like from one screen to the other to see how it looks.

Easily multitask with a second monitor

Now, there is a download that will let you turn your tablet into a second monitor. With Duet, you can take that increased productivity to your home office, whether you work for yourself, or if you just want to multitask. Why not take care of bills on one screen while arranging a family get-together on Zoom on the other screen?

You can think of numerous ways to multitask. You do it all the time now. With two screens you eliminate the hassle of toggling from one open program to another open program on just one computer screen.

The Duet program and iOS app (see note below) let you connect your PC or Mac to your iPad (or iPhone) with its Lightning or older 30-pin charging cable, so you can have two screens working together. Unlike wireless second monitor connections, which can be unreliable, Duet’s wired solution is virtually lag-free.

It even supports touch input and gestures you can use for your Mac or PC like two-finger scrolling, panning and pinch zoom. For iPad Pro users, Apple Pencil is supported, great for precise sketching and drawing in graphics software like Adobe Photoshop.

As an added bonus, Duet adds Touch Bar (aka MacBook Pro) functionality to Duet iPads paired with Macs running Sierra 10.12.2 and above.

Now you’re ready to multitask like a pro. Use the extra monitor to free up some time so you can get away from the computer and enjoy some fresh air.
