Turn your phone into a virtual tape measure

Turn your phone into a virtual tape measure

With the exception of a few creative, hands-on professions, most people probably don’t carry around a tape measure. You know what you do take with you everywhere? Your phone!

With the AR Measure app, you can do both. This tape measure app makes it so that you always have this handy tool at your disposal.

The “AR” in the name stands for augmented reality. It uses this technology to create a virtual ruler that can measure real objects. Based on the demo, it seems to use your phone’s camera to measure the distance between two points in space. Watch the video below to see how it works.

AR Measure isn’t available just yet. It’s going to be released with the iOS 11 update. If it’s in high enough demand from the App Store then maybe we can expect the developer to make an Android version too. You can click here to get iOS 11 before everyone else. But you will probably have to wait until the official launch to download AR Measure!

If you want to be one of the first people to get the app, click here to access the AR Measure website. You can fill in your email address and they will send you a notification once it’s ready.

P.S. Augmented reality might not be everywhere yet but it could be one of the next big technological advancements. Gamers already use it to immerse themselves in the game world but its real-world applications go far beyond that. You can use it to find out information about cars you like, travel through space and redecorate your home.
