Optimize your monitor’s settings with this free tool

Home computers have come a long way since the early days. Processors are much faster and storage size is incredibly large in comparison.

They have also come way down in price. You can now pick up a powerful desktop or laptop computer for a fraction of the cost that you would have paid for a lesser machine in the mid-1990s.

Peripheral devices have also made great strides. For example, you can purchase large, flat screen HD monitors that are extremely light-weight with great picture quality.

Many people use these wonderful gadgets to play video games or stream movies. However, if you buy a new monitor, its display settings might not be right for you. That’s where this download can help.

I’m talking about a program called ControlMyMonitor.

It allows you to view and modify the settings of your monitor, like brightness, contrast, sharpness, red/green/blue color balance and more. You can modify the monitor settings from the graphical user interface (GUI) and from command-line. You can also export all settings of your monitor into a configuration file for later use to easily return to these settings.

How to use ControlMyMonitor

To get started, click the link we’ve provided below inside the blue box. If you’re reading this article using the Komando.com app, you might not see the blue box. If not, click here to see it.

(Note: This program is for Windows users and works with Vista through Windows 10.)

Once you’ve followed the link, you’ll need to scroll to the bottom of the page and click Download ControlMyMonitor. Save the zip file to your user folder. Then, right-click the file and click extract all. Then double-click the ControlMyMonitor Application.

After running ControlMyMonitor, the current settings of your monitor are displayed in the main window. If you have multiple monitors, you can choose another one from the monitor combo-box below the toolbar.

In order to modify a single item, select the item that you want to change, then double-click the item. You can also increase or decrease the current value by using the “Increase Value” or “Decrease Value” options (under the Action menu.)

You can also increase/decrease values by using the mouse wheel, according to the selected choice in Options >> Change Value With Mouse Wheel. By default, the mouse wheel feature is active when you hold down the Ctrl key.
