Half a million vehicles recalled – Check the full list for yours
In late April this year, almost a million vehicles were recalled by Subaru. A severe problem was detected in the ignition coils and degradation of the engine control module (ECM).
The first recall came for 2017-19 Impreza and 2018-19 Crosstrek models. The issues caused the models to stall or not start at all and impacted about 466,205 vehicles. The second recall impacted 405,000 vehicles and included the 2019 Forester and 2019 Crosstrek models.
Now, five other vehicle manufacturers have issued a nationwide recall for a variety of models. While some are not as severe, others are at risk of catching fire. Keep reading to check if your vehicle is on the list and take it to a dealer as soon as possible.
Impacted brands include Jeep, Kia, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, and Nissan. Three brands have minor issues that shouldn’t impacted your daily commute too much. But the remaining two brands are fire hazards.
Jeep 2021 Cherokee
According to Consumer Reports, Jeep is recalling 18,000 Cherokees due to a faulty hose that could leak highly combustible transmission fluid. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall was sent out on May 4. This includes both 4WD and FWD models.
If you have a 2021 Jeep Cherokee, you should have received a letter from your dealership. If you haven’t, you can take your SUV to Chrysler or call the Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. The reference number for this recall is Y18.
Kia Optima Sedan and Sorento SUV
Kia recalled is recalling 283,000 Optima sedans made between 2013 and 2015. This also includes 156,000 Sorento SUVs made between 2014 and 2015.
“The issue is due to the potential of leaking brake fluid within the antilock brake system (ABS) module, which could lead to a short circuit and cause a fire within the vehicle’s engine compartment, either while driving or parked,” Consumer Reports explained.
The issue has been identified as a leaking HECU (Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit) that could short circuit and cause a fire in the engine compartment. Owners of affected vehicles may call Kia at 800-333-4542.
Volvo S60 and S90, XC60 and XC90, V60 and V90
Volvo recalled various models, including 85,000 S60 and S90 sedans, XC60 and XC90 SUVs, and V60 and V90 wagons. All the affected models are between 2019 and 2020.
A flaw in the fuel pump can cause the vehicle’s engine to cut out and stall. A 15-amp fuse in the fuel pump is apparently to blame. If you take your car to a Volvo dealership, the fuse will be replaced with a 20-amp one.

Mercedes-Benz – various models
In one of the biggest recalls, Mercedes-Benz has issued a warning to 342,366 drivers. Thankfully the issue isn’t life-threatening. It causes the backup camera to fail when put in reverse.

- 2020-2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC43 & GLC63
- 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE53 & GLE63S
- 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT43, GT53, GT63 & GT63S
- 2020-2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA250
- 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS450
- 2021 Mercedes-Benz E350 & E450
- 2020-2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB250
- 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLS63

Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX80
Nissan North America, also responsible for Infinity vehicles, issued a recall for 24,140 Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX80 SUVs. The affected models were all made between 2020 and 2021.
“A buildup of melted plastic on the tip of an injection molding machine caused some fuel pump impellers to have a density that is out of specification,” Consumer Reports explained. This prevents fuel from flowing properly, causing the engine to stall.
