Which US cities are trendiest on TikTok? Here are the top 10

Pop quiz: Where’s the most popular place in the U.S. — according to TikTok views?

Nope, not LA. It’s not NYC, either. It’s Miami!

With hopping nightlife, beautiful beaches and a whole lot of people filming vids, it makes sense to me. Portland Real Estate analyzed travel-related hashtags on TikTok for the most popular U.S. cities.

Did your city make the top 10?

  1. Miami (52.3 billion views)
  2. Los Angeles (39 billion views)
  3. Chicago (34.4 billion views)
  4. Las Vegas (26 billion views)
  5. Houston (23.7 billion views)
  6. New York City (17.1 billion views)
  7. Dallas (15.7 billion views)
  8. Atlanta (15.4 billion views)
  9. Boston (12.9 billion views)
  10. Nashville (9.5 billion views)

🔥 No Phoenix? Hmm, I get it. If you try to film a video in the summer, your phone overheats and shuts down.

Looking for a gig in tech? Go where the jobs are

Los Angeles is the spot for actors. Want to get into the advertising business? Move to New York. Ready for your big music break? Nashville is calling.

What about tech? Silicon Valley comes to mind, but it’s not the only hub.

Don’t die. That’s 46-year-old Bryan Johnson’s main goal in life. Bryan made $400 million when he sold his credit card processing company to eBay. Today, he lives in Los Angeles as a self-proclaimed “rejuvenation athlete” and spends his time and money trying to turn back the clock.

Well, full electric, technically. Construction has kicked off on America’s first high-speed rail, connecting Los Angeles and Las Vegas. In as few as four years, the all-electric, zero-emission train will take you 218 miles across the Mojave Desert in just over two hours — twice as fast as driving!

100,000 rides a week

In Waymo’s autonomous (read: driverless) taxis. That across Los Angeles, San Francisco and Phoenix. This is double their last brag-worthy numbers. I still haven’t been in one!

Cities and states that pay the most for IT and cybersecurity jobs

When I say I host a national tech radio show, you can imagine the questions I get. “Can you help me get my PC to turn on?” “Why is my phone doing this weird thing?” Sorry, my friends. I’m here for all your digital lifestyle questions, but leave the IT work to those pros.

500 catalytic converters

Are stolen every month in Los Angeles County. It was 900 per month a few years ago. Police there are curbing thefts by etching VINs onto catalytic converters, making them easier to track. Give your local police a ring to see if they offer something like this. If not, ask them, “Why not?” I had the converter stolen out of my truck. What a pain.

50,000 trips a week

For Waymo driverless taxis. That’s across Phoenix, San Francisco and Los Angeles, where the robotaxis operate 24/7. I’m still not ready to hop in one.

This doesn’t make cents: Jeff Drobman got a slew of urgent-sounding Bank of America text messages. The Los Angeles man tried to call the bank but had no signal. He’d been SIM swapped, and hackers stole $21,000 from his BofA account. PSA: Choose facial recognition over 2FA in your banking app, and contact your carrier immediately if your signal suddenly drops.
