How to export your new PDF
How to ditch Office for Docs and Excel for Sheets
Microsoft Office has been around for a long time, and understandably, people love the familiarity with its applications. But it is expensive.
As more businesses and educational institutes switch to Google programs such as Docs and Sheets, it can’t hurt to check them out. And you can save money by switching.
You can’t delete Meta AI
Meta wants to make your FB or IG search bar work more like ChatGPT. You can’t turn it off. Plus, high school coach uses AI to frame principal, the most dreaded word at work, and a new TV projection breakthrough. Got a car? Here’s how to make it into your next side hustle.
Don’t use this word when texting: Replying with only the word “sure” in a text is now seen as sarcastic, rude or dismissive. The younger crowd expects a bit more enthusiasm in those replies. It’s safe for agreeing to errands, but for invites? Try “Absolutely!” Bonus points for adding emojis. 😃 Fo shizzle!
1,000 Wordle puzzles
Now available to New York Times Games subscribers. I like the comradery of everyone doing the same puzzle each day, but it’s also fun to catch up on older Wordles if you missed them! Pro tip: My favorite opening word is “stare.”
It’s not a typo: Your phone always gets a name or word you type wrong. Here’s a trick: When it pops up (usually in quotes) above the keyboard, tap the word. This adds it to your phone’s dictionary. Works on iPhone and most Androids!
Jeff Bezos needs more money: I mean, he’s only worth $201.3 billion. News is coming out now that Amazon’s voice assistant, Alexa, is gonna cost you if you want to use her AI powers. No word on price yet, but it’ll be a monthly subscription added on top of your Prime subscription. Will you pay for it? I won’t.
Search it: My husband, Barry, was scrolling through his photo app looking for a pic of our boat. I leaned over and said, “Type ‘boat’ in the search bar.” He did, and bam — there was the one he wanted. Just type a word or two and find a certain pic fast.
You have my Word: Now, any text you copy and paste in Microsoft Word will automatically match the font, size and color of your existing document. Nice! Prefer the old way? Go to File > Options > Advanced > Cut, copy, and paste > Pasting from other programs, and choose Keep Source Formatting.
Lightning fast: In Microsoft Word, use Ctrl + the arrow keys to move through words or paragraphs quickly. Combine that shortcut with Shift to select text as you go.
0 texts and emails sent by Tom Selleck, ever
The actor says he relies on others, including a secretary (yup, he used that word!) and his wife, to communicate electronically for him. Tom, you’ve gotta meet Siri.
Alexa routines: Automate tasks like turning on lights, reading the news and starting the coffeemaker with a voice command. Set it up via the Alexa app by navigating to More > Routines, then create a routine with the trigger word(s) and the actions you want.

WORD UP: You’re typing away and realize you’ve had Caps Lock enabled. Ugh. In Microsoft Word, hit Shift + F3. You’ll shift between all caps, first letter capitalized and no caps. Too bad this trick doesn’t work in Google Docs.
You can count on me: There’s a new option in Google Docs to display your file’s word count as you type. Hit Tools > Word count > then check the box next to Display word count while typing. Pro tip: Highlight a sentence or paragraph to see how many words are in just that section.
It just “clicks”: If you’re in a document or on a webpage with text, double-clicking highlights a word. Triple-clicking highlights an entire paragraph. It works to highlight a word in a URL or the entire URL, too.
That’s not quite right: You’re texting with your voice and it went all wrong. To delete the last word you dictated, say, “Delete the last word.” To delete the last sentence, say, “Clear sentence.” If you want to get rid of everything you just said, say, “Clear all.”
I got this question a lot after yesterday’s top story: “How do I know Incogni works?” Friend, don’t just take my word for it. They’ll give you your money back if you’re not happy within 30 days. If you were on the fence, this is your sign to try Incogni now for 60% off.

Google listens to your private conversations
For years, Google has stood firm: No one listens to your private conversations. Of course, no one ever believed Google because – for lack of a better word – it was a preposterous lie.
