“Hey, how come no one told me that sooner?” Try this if you have a Windows PC. Before you restart, hold down the Shift key. Keep holding until the machine powers up, then click Continue. This will shut down all the processes running for a true reboot.

🖥️ Grab a (virtual) pen: You can mark up your Google Slides presentations during a meeting. Neat! To annotate while in a presentation, ​​open Slideshow mode by clicking the Slideshow button in the app bar. Mouse over the bottom left of the viewer and click the ellipsis icon > Turn on the pen. Now you can circle things, scrawl notes or cross out the ideas everyone hates.

Make sure you get my emails: Sometimes, spam blockers filter out safe messages you really want to see — like The Current! The good news is it takes just a minute to fix it.

  • Gmail: On mobile? Hit the three dots in the top right corner > Move to > Primary. On desktop, back out of this email, then drag and drop it into the Primary tab near the top left of your screen.
  • Apple Mail: Tap on our email address at the top of this email (next to “From:” on mobile) and click Add to VIPs.
  • Microsoft Outlook: Click the Home tab > Delete > Junk > Never Block Sender or Never Block the Group or Mailing List.

🖥️ PC slo-o-o-o-wing down? Click Start > Settings > System > Storage. You’ll see how much storage is being used. how much is still free and a breakdown of what’s taking up the space. Bet you don’t need anything under Temporary files.

It’s not just your phone snooping: Check your computer, too. On a Mac: Open the Apple menu and choose System Settings > Privacy & Security. On Windows: Go to Start > Settings > Privacy, and under App permissions, select an option like microphone or location.
